Francisco Carvalho

Head of Business Development

Engineer and manager with 20 years of professional experience in engineering consulting, with focus on the areas of water and energy. His mission is to globally coordinate the Group's business development activity, as well as to lead the Investment and Development Agency.

José Francisco Possolo de Spínola Freire de Carvalho is a Civil Engineer, graduated from Instituto Superior Técnico of the University of Lisbon (IST-UL), in the field of Hydraulics and Water Resources. In 2004 he completed his Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the Faculty of Economics of Nova University of Lisbon. Later he attended the Renewable Energy Management Programme (PGER) at the Economics Faculty of the Portuguese Catholic University

 

 

Before joining the FUTURE group, he developed his entire career at Aqualogus, a Portuguese engineering and environment consulting company, where he performed various functions.

 

Throughout his career he participated in multiple projects in the areas of water and energy, acting as consultant and contract manager. He has been active in several countries in Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America, leading multidisciplinary teams in consulting tasks, namely in water resources planning, design of infrastructures of different types and development of hydropower projects of all scales. His intervention covered aspects of engineering, planning, economic, financial and environmental analysis.

 

He managed the unit of works supervision for about 15 years. He was also involved in R&D and technological deployment activities, such as the Urbanwater project or the Oporto platform for the integrated management of the urban water cycle. He has been Commercial Director of the engineering area, with the responsibility for business development and contract closing in several geographies, involving large economic groups, utilities and international financial institutions.

 

He is author to publications in the fields of water and energy, an Energy Specialist of the Portuguese Order of Engineers and a member of the Water and Energy Commission of the Portuguese Water Resources Association.

 

In 2019 he joined the FUTURE Group, where he assumes global responsibility for business development, covering all business areas of the Group. In the scope of this role, he also combines the responsibility for the Investment and Development Agency, which purpose is to identify, develop and structure investment projects in infrastructure.
